With reference to the correspondence noted in

the margin, I have the honour to

inform you that I propose to inform

Mr. Cheetham and Lessrs. Sanders

Rehders and Company, Limited, that I

am cancelling the permission which I

gave the former to act as agent for the latter in comlection with

their Texas Oil business.

It will be seen from my Despatch of the 24th. February that I refused to grant permission to kr. Hakon Schlüter

to accept this agency, all the circumstances know about him tend-

-ing to confirm the suspicion that he would be merely acting on behalf of Messrs. Reuter Bröckelmann and Company. The letters

seized under the circumstances described in my cypher telegram of

the 25th. May show that Mr. Cheetham has now been put forward as a

mere figure head, that it was intended that the agency should real-

-ly be conducted under Mr. Schlüter's direction, and that Er.

Cheetham also would be acting for Messrs. Reuter Brockelmann and

Company. This suspicion seems to obtain some confirmation from the

copy of the letter from Sanders Rehders and Company, Limited, to the

Texas Company which was enclosed in your Confidential Despatch of

the 24th. Aprill.
